A place in the sun
The finest bathing lakes in Graubünden
So blue, so clean, so clear: the Swiss canton of Graubünden has more than 600 lakes. Build sandcastles, go paddling with the rock spirit or take a short rafting trip – there’s something for everyone in this bathing paradise.
Canovasee – the pearl of the Domleschg
Just above the village of Paspel in the valley of Domleschg lies Canovasee, nestling tranquilly in the beautiful landscape. The lake is just a few minutes’ walk from the car park next to the school building in Paspel. Canovasee is the property of the Planta family, who run the bathing facilities; bathing in the lake is thus free. Being quite shallow, the water gets warm with the first rays of spring sunshine and the bathing season gets under way as early as May. The kiosk sells ice cream, drinks, hot dogs and sweets, and any sausages you bring along can be grilled on the fire pit on the eastern shore of the lake.
Lai Barnagn – one of the warmest Alpine bathing lake
At the heart of Savognin lies the crystal clear Lai Barnagn, one of the warmest bathing lakes in the Alps. Featuring a water trampoline, water games for children, a play raft and slide, a carousel, swings and a sand pit, the lake is especially popular with families – and thanks to two beach volleyball pitches, a crazy golf course, pedalos and a raft, also a hit with adults.
Fontanivas – the natural lake in Disentis
Those who love nature and tranquillity will love the natural lake Fontanivas in the Surselva Valley. In a sunny, sheltered position, surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery, the sweeping meadows invite grown-ups to relax on the grass, while children enjoy themselves in the water playground or riding the raft across the lake. Just beside the lake is a TCS campsite with catering facilities.
Lagh da Saoseo – Graubünden’s fairytale lake
A lake worthy of the privilege. Up high, hidden between the larch and stone-pine forests, lies the charming Lagh da Saoseo. Steeped in myth and legend, the mountain lake lies in the "Val di Campo" nature reserve in Val Poschiavo and due to its icy temperatures, is not for the faint-hearted.
